YIN Classes, NIDRA Classes, 10:30 Class Returning Soon

YIN CLASS

YIN yoga classes are new to Bikram Yoga Charleston. We have enjoyed 2 Yin classes thus far, and our 3rd is on the way! The next Yin class will be held:

Sunday, Aug. 14th, at 3:00 pm

Yin classes are free to AutoPay and Annual members.

If you haven’t yet tried one of these classes, please don’t hesitate! Yin postures are all floor stretches (no standing work), and they are designed to promote greater flexibility. In this 1 hour class, beginner postures are held for long intervals to enable the deep, penetrating stretch of muscles, tissues and facia. Yin stretching is a great compliment to your Bikram practice and is especially beneficial at this timeslot, as a warm up for the regular 26 & 2 class.

YOGA NIDRA

Yoga Nidra — also known as “Yogic Sleep” or sleep with awareness — is an ancient practice that is rapidly becoming popular in the west. Its purpose is to induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation, and create a deep meditative state of consciousness. Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining fully consciousness. The practice can be used to tune into your intuition, to set intentions, or to merely set the rest of the world aside for a while and sink into deep relaxation.

Our beloved Sam Long has been studying Yoga Nidra with the aid of master teacher, Abhinav Sagar, who also owns a Bikram studio in California. She has begun bringing these teachings to us once a week, on Wednesdays after the morning Bikram classes.

I took her class today and achieved a truly wonderful state of relaxation. I set my intention, or “Sankalpa,” as: “I act and communicate with peace.” Directly after the practice I felt tremendously refreshed. And now, several hours later, my “peaceful” intention is still with me. I absolutely feel it now, as I communicate with my daughters and my work contacts. This Nidra thing is pretty cool, indeed. Come try it!

Yoga Nidra Details:

20-30 minutes long
Every Wednesday after the morning classes
Room is “cooled” to about 85
Practitioners lay still on their backs (a mat is nice)
Sam leads us through the conscious sleep practice
FREE FOR EVERYONE
