YIN CLASS

Our students have been enjoying the deep stretching provided by our Yin classes immensely. The next Yin classes will be held:

Tuesday, Sept. 27th, 12:15-1:15 pm

Yin classes are free to AutoPay and Annual members.

If you haven’t yet tried one of these classes, please don’t hesitate! Yin postures are all floor stretches (no standing work), and they are designed to promote greater flexibility. In this 1 hour class, beginner postures are held for long intervals to enable the deep, penetrating stretch of muscles, tissues and facia. Yin stretching is a great compliment to your Bikram practice, enhancing your flexibility in all postures.

YOGA NIDRA
New Time for Regular Nidra Classes: Every Wednesday at 12:15

Yoga Nidra — also known as “Yogic Sleep” or sleep with awareness — is an ancient practice that is rapidly becoming popular in the west. Its purpose is to induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation, and create a deep meditative state of consciousness. Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining fully consciousness. The practice can be used to tune into your intuition, to set intentions, or to merely set the rest of the world aside for a while and sink into deep relaxation.

Yoga Nidra Details:

20-30 minutes long
Every Wednesday at 12:15
Room is “cooled” to about 85
Practitioners lay still on their backs (a mat is nice)
Sam leads us through the conscious sleep practice

FREE FOR EVERYONE

Next Nidra Class is Aug. 31st, 12:15 – 12:45

YOGA NIDRA

Yoga Nidra — also known as “Yogic Sleep” or sleep with awareness — is an ancient practice that is rapidly becoming popular in the west. Its purpose is to induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation, and create a deep meditative state of consciousness. Yoga Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining fully consciousness. The practice can be used to tune into your intuition, to set intentions, or to merely set the rest of the world aside for a while and sink into deep relaxation.

Our beloved Sam Long has been studying Yoga Nidra with the aid of master teacher, Abhinav Sagar, who also owns a Bikram studio in California. She has begun bringing these teachings to us once a week, on Wednesdays after the morning Bikram classes.

I took her class today and achieved a truly wonderful state of relaxation. I set my intention, or “Sankalpa,” as: “I act and communicate with peace.” Directly after the practice I felt tremendously refreshed. And now, several hours later, my “peaceful” intention is still with me. I absolutely feel it now, as I communicate with my daughters and my work contacts. This Nidra thing is pretty cool, indeed. Come try it!

Summer Schedule Change

Summer Schedule Change

Due to summer travel, busy summer schedules and pretty weather, class sizes tend to get smaller during this time of year. The studio must adjust to these changes during summer months. For July and August, we will have a slight change in the morning schedule. We plan to return to the full, normal schedule in September.

For July and August:
The 10:30am class will be cancelled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The 10:30 am class will continue to be offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

We truly hope that you will be able to assimilate this change into your normal practice without too much trouble!

On the Up Side (The Yin)
Bikram Yoga Charleston will be holding a Membership Drive in the fall. In the meantime, we will be ramping up the benefits of Membership. Members of the studio include those students on monthly AutoPay, and those who pay Annually.

Coming soon, the studio will be beginning to offer some special rewardsfor its AutoPay and Annual Payment Members. These rewards will come in the form of special classes, workshops, lectures and other programs. We will start by providing 1 Yin class per month. This class will be FREE to members! (All other students are welcome at the normal class rate.) Starting in July, free Yin will occur on a designated Saturday at 12:30.

July’s Yin class will be held on July 9th.

So get ready to enjoy the benefits of Membership, and, if you are not yet a member, consider joining! The more members of the studio we have, and the more we enjoy these events together, the result is that we make our yoga community stronger, more positive, more educated, and more supportive of each other.

Bikram Yoga Charleston is, at it’s core, much more than a place to practice yoga. Our core values are kindness, service and family. We welcome and care for each and every student, and we want you to feel at home here. In the coming months we hope to continue to grow our yoga family and give you experiences that go above and beyond your expectations.

See you in the hot room!
